What is it that motivates one to take on such life paths, or to choose a life of making artworks for a living? We are born and have a short time in this world. My decision on becoming an artist and running a studio came from my need to add to the quality of life for others and myself.

My Father would always bring back wood and stone carvings from his travels all over the world, he would also spend the time and explain how they were made and who made them; and thanks to him I always had a bench and tools ever since 4 years of age.

As a child vacationing in the mountainous regions of Lebanon I always had a little knife in my pocket (a present from pop even at mom's objections) and I was always carving something out of tree branches or bark. Somehow I never lost that feeling of excitement — I experience it each time I start working on a piece. The ideas have changed but not the motivation.

I also find inspiration in visiting artist friends studios (Sharon Church, Fritz Dietel and others) and seeing the intensity of work being done, attention to detail just had a way of getting me excited — from the tiniest little stone setting to the largest woodcarving.

I enjoy making pieces and putting in the effort to becoming better in what I do, mentally and physically. Apart from the creative aspect, it takes a few different skills and knowledge of math, chemistry, and hand eye coordination to complete the work. It is exciting when a piece comes together in perfect fluid harmony.

The Motivation behind the Sea Urchin Series is my lifetime in and around the coasts of Lebanon.

The Carved series was inspired by my childhood running around and carving branches and by the letters and alphabets that I was learning in school.

The Grooved series is homage to my mentors and the old traditions of metalwork.
